Dorint Hotel Mönchengladbach - the cornerstone of an international hotel history
The city's first address for decades
With the opening of the Dorint Parkhotel Mönchengladbach in 1959, the foundation stone of an international hotel history was laid. At that time, however, nobody had any idea. The client, a furniture store for hotels, wanted to present the Parkhotel as a model hotel for the entire industry. The latest furniture and interiors were presented to the customers while the hotel was in operation. The exterior of the house with its six storeys and a snow-white tiled façade also caught the eye. After initial scepticism about building a modern hotel complex near the Bunte Garten and the historic Kaiser-Friedrich-Halle, the mood of the Mönchengladbachers quickly changed.
Five years after its opening as a "model hotel", the Parkhotel has become an independent hotel. Since 1972, the hotel has been operating under the Dorint brand name. The Dorint Parkhotel in Mönchengladbach had long since become the city's first address. In order to keep it that way, renovations and improvements were made again and again: In 1974, the parent company was extended by almost double to 102 rooms. The old building was renovated and new conference rooms were created. In order to ensure that the old and new parts do not differ from each other after completion, the entire building was fitted with a light metal cladding. A special feature of that time was the extension of a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and solarium.
In order to meet the growing demand of guests, the Dorint Hotel Mönchengladbach was extended in 1990 by 15 air-conditioned conference rooms and further rooms to 162. Ten years later, the hotel was raised and the hotel was topped up. One of the city's most modern fitness centres with over 680 square metres of space was added to the new floor. In 2009, a physiotherapy practice in the Dorint Parkhotel moved into its quarter. Four guest rooms have been converted so that the hotel currently has 145 rooms and 13 suites.
Typical Rhineland hospitality
The design of the interior was inspired by the adjacent "Colourful Garden" (Bunte Garten). The shapes and warm colours of the plant and park world convey a pleasant, harmonious atmosphere. The spacious rooms offer all the amenities you would expect from a modern city hotel. For events of all kinds, the Dorint Parkhotel Mönchengladbach has 14 bright, air-conditioned conference and conference rooms as well as an executive boardroom. The rooms are variable and can accommodate up to 150 people.
In the restaurant "Wintergarten" with a summer terrace you can enjoy specialities from the Lower Rhine and international cuisine. The chef attaches great importance to seasonal products from the region, so that variety on the plates is guaranteed. The bar "Hopfenklause" is recommended as a cosy end to the day. Here you can sit back and relax with a fresh draught beer, various wines or long drinks. The typical Rhenish hospitality of the committed employees ensures that no wishes remain unfulfilled.
The hotel's own wellness and sports area of 1,200 square metres with saunas, pool, solarium, steam bath and sun terrace also promises pure relaxation. Here you can quickly forget the stress of the day. The spacious fitness studio has plenty of room to let off steam for sports enthusiasts.
